Scotch(R) Super 33+ Electrical Tape a black, 7 mil tape, on a 1 inch core, combines the flexibility of a PVC backing with excellent electrical insulating properties to provide primary electrical insulation for splices up to 600V. Abrasion-, corrosion-, and UV-resistant, it makes an excellent protective jacketing for high-voltage cables and wire harnessing. UL Listed and CSA Certified, it resists alkalis and acids, and is flame-retardant. Excellent all-weather performance in cold to 0(deg)F (-18(deg)C) or hot to 220(deg)F (105(deg)C).

I now only use scotch 33+ tape, or the Scotch 88 if I need a thicker tape (I usually use the 88 on my motorcycle and auto work since it's thicker and more protective against both moisture and heat/cold.) It worked, it taped, it held what I needed it to hold. Really, I've been able to take it for granted (no Tape, I don't mean it like that, you know I love you). However, I love a deal and I see I can get another brand for 4$ today.... I'll try and do a comparison and report back! (Tape, honey, it's not like that! Don't worry, I'm sure I'll come crawling home to you.) But in the meantime, if you only get one tape, this one has been good to me. I typically use heat shrink tubing as much as possible since it's a very permanent insulation and tape has never lasted too long and especially comes undone in heat and over time. I found that this tape was rated really highly and cost quite a bit more than my $1 rolls of tape from radio shack or Home Depot. I learned a valuable lesson; quality tape is much better than economy tape. I didn't think there would be a big difference but there is. This tape is very flexible, sticks to itself well, and I have great confidence that it will last for years to come. Pay the extra few bucks to get this tape, it's really worth it. |
